Well it’s that time of year again when all of Dance UK  ‘buzzes’  with excitement, practise, costume fittings, dancing and singing so we’ve put this little video clip together from the weekend’s rehearsals to get you in show mood..enjoy!

Our annual stage production is coming to Motherwell Theatre on Saturday 16 June 7pm, Sunday 17 June 1pm and 7pm and Monday 18 June 7pm, featuring pupils from 5-18 from all the Dance UK schools.

Directed by Jacqui Wilson and her team of  choreographers, costumers,  lighting and sound technicians & backstage crew, Dance UK Live 2018 promises to be another amazing production!

We support Glasgow Children’s Charity at showtime and can’t wait to raise lots for them again this year so make sure you purchase a raffle ticket on the night too.   Thank you!!

So with all this effort and talent on stage and behind the scenes, make sure you show your support by buying lots of tickets. Remember, the show is only made possible by ticket sales (Get Tickets Here)  so bring all the family along for a night to remember !

Ask any of our Graduates and their Parents about their best memories…and they will say ‘the show’

To order more tickets at your classes this week, see your class teacher for an extra ticket order form.

And thanks for your support

Annual Summer Show Spectacular

A big thanks to everyone involved in this year’s summer show ..a fabulous night at Motherwell Theatre… here is a clip from the show with music from the operetta Orpheus in the Underworld written by Jacques Offenbach and first performed in Paris 1858 however the dance style most associated with this music is much older. The Can-can dates back to the 1820s and has its roots in French social dance and early Parisien music hall. Dancers have been thrilling audiences across the world performing the can-can for almost two hundred years and I think our girls and choreographer, Susan Haldane have done a fantastic job of this classic dance style. It was an amazing opening night and we can’t wait to see their next two performances ..
There are still a few tickets left for the remaining Dance UK Live shows on 25th and 26th June 2017 so don’t miss out contact https://www.danceuk.co.uk for details

Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in Dance UK Live 2017…

Why We Love Exams!

Dance Exams at our school are open to all pupils at all levels and the students in this class video are preparing for their Grade 4 ISTD Ballet Qualification.

Guest tutor, Miss Elizabeth Henderson is seen here giving the girls a ‘mock exam’ , containing all the elements of the exam itself in preparation for the day when an official ISTD accredited examiner from the ISTD in London visits Dance UK to conduct the examinations.

The examination structure is designed to cater equally for those who wish to progress to making dance their profession, either as a performer or dance teacher, and for those pursuing dance purely as a serious hobby. Equally importantly, the exams accrue UCAS points for entry to University so are a very worthwhile qualification to hold.

At Dance UK we have been delivering premiere dance education in and around Glasgow for over 30 years and the above clip was shot at our School, based in Bellahouston Park, where we opened in 1989.

Our aim of “Bringing ballet to Bellahouston” is still as strong today with hundreds of dancers from all over training with us year after year.

Thanks to fantastic support from local parents over the years ,we have established a solid reputation for excellence and value in equal measure and being in the same location on the same day for so long has allowed us to build a strong community link where we see generations of parents and pupils enjoying a life of dance, fun and fitness which gives us pleasure and inspiration to achieve even more in the next 30 years!

Exciting times ahead for everyone who makes ‘Dance UK’ what it is today.

A place to dance, a place to learn, a place to grow,
