Kristeen Brady

Kristeen Brady

Branch Manager/Young performers co-course Leader

Kristeen started dancing at the age of 2 at the Dorothy Campbell School of Dance. From the age of 7 she attended the Glasgow Ballet School where under the tutelage of the renowned Miss Jean MacLellan, progressed through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) grades in Classical Ballet, Tap and Modern Theatre. After Miss MacLellan retired from teaching, Kristeen then attended the Elizabeth Henderson School of Dancing to continue studying for those all important teaching qualifications – this is where Miss Brady and Miss Wilson met! During this time she put her excellent dance skills to good use and performed alongside the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and also performed on children’s T.V shows on Scottish Television.

Kristeen was known for her high level of dance ability and was fast becoming a fully accomplished teacher. Miss Wilson offered her the first full time position at Jacqui Wilson Dance school in 1991 at the Bellahouston and Barlanark branches and together they helped it grow. With a passion for teaching confirmed, Kristeen was accepted to Strathclyde University to study Primary Teaching. During this time she gained Associated status with the British Association of Teachers of Dancing (BATD) – Miss Brady can do it all! This was the perfect combination of her 2 great loves;  teaching and dance.

In 1998 she opened Kristeen Brady School of Dance in Coatbridge and Kilsyth which very quickly became popular with local children as they fell in love with her fun teaching style and insightful tutelage. Classes were so busy that the school soon joined forces and became part of the newly transformed Dance UK in 2005. Miss Brady continued to inspire and improve young dancers and performers in her senior role in classes across Glasgow and the surrounding areas.

Throughout this time, Kristeen continued her studies for Dance qualifications and achieved the highly prestigious Associate Diploma within the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) She has taught all grades to major levels entering candidates in Classical Ballet, Tap and Modern Theatre and particularly enjoys teaching on the Ballet Elite Course. She is a force to be reckoned with in preparing our pupils for the demanding ballet grades and always ensures excellent results. As rewarding as it is to watch major students achieve their goals, Kristeen finds great joy in teaching Mini Movers and Junior classes. It is rewarding to watch the tiniest dancer gain confidence and trust to leave mum and develop their love for dance. Being a mum herself, Kristeen is very aware of the responsibility she is being given by every mum who leaves their budding ballerinas in her care and strives to help each child reach their full potential in a fun and caring way. She truly knows how to make every dancer feel their best at DanceUK.

Kristeen also has a special interest in the Young Performers programme and has headed the Wishaw branch of the course for many years, seeing her pupils through many exams and performances. She has a knack for finding the best material to make our audiences laugh and our pupils shine. Alongside her co-course leader Miss Cunningham, they are ready to take Young Performers into a new exciting direction and will use their enthusiasm, talent and drive to inspire our performers.

Kristeen is a valued member of the DanceUK team and has seen it grow from the beginning! Kristeen is able to pass on her knowledge and love of dance to the children in her classes and feels very proud to be part of Dance UK – we love you Miss Brady!
